What Happens In Magnet Lab?

Once registered, Magnet Lab members receive access to an online forum where they can submit video/audio clips of themselves speaking, in addition to questions, thoughts, and other posts.

During virtual sessions, two clips will be taken from the forum and analyzed by the community, led by the instructor (a maximum of 8 members may appear on screen; all other participants can watch via private Youtube link).

All Magnet Lab sessions will be saved and available for members to rewatch as long as they remain in the program. Even if your video/audio is not reviewed in class, the feedback we give will inform your own productions.

The goal in sessions will be discussing what is happening in the clip and offering suggestions to strengthen it communicatively (e.g, suggestions on adding contrast like more pitch variation or speed changes, adjustments to body language, and switching intonation)

For people interested in writing, Magnet Lab members will also gain access to the other areas of the Substation forum, including receiving/giving written feedback on poems as well as inspiration for writing through prompts and exercises.
